Reyna Hobson

Reyna Hobson has always been the type to color-code her planner and chase gold stars like her life depends on it. Growing up in a home where success meant everything, she got really good at performing the part of the perfect daughter: neat, accomplished, always doing the “right” thing. These days, she writes a popular column sharing real-life stories from the locals in her town. People love it, but Reyna? She’s starting to feel stuck.

What she really wants is to write her own book, something messy, honest, and deeply her. But instead of writing it, she keeps reaching for the next promotion, hoping her emotionally distant boss will finally throw her a compliment. She still thinks about the time she pulled a personal essay from a big contest, afraid it was “too much.” It haunts her. Now she’s trying to figure out what it means to chase something for her, not just for the praise.

She’s got the stories. She’s got the voice. What she’s missing is the nerve and maybe a friend who reminds her that not everything worth doing comes with applause.
